What Is Feminist Entrepreneurship?

Feminist entrepreneurship challenges the idea that growth must come at the expense of wellbeing, community, or values.

It recognizes that successful businesses can create profit and impact.

Through Sisters in Solidarity, participants will explore how to:

• Build businesses aligned with their values

• Create economic opportunities for their communities

• Lead with authenticity and purpose

• Access and leverage ecosystems designed to support women entrepreneurs

• Challenge traditional narratives around power, leadership, and success

Because building wealth and creating change are not mutually exclusive.

Who Should Apply?

You should apply if:

✓ You identify as a Black woman

✓ You live in Canada

✓ You own or lead a business in any sector

✓ You are actively growing or preparing to scale

✓ You want to increase revenue, strengthen operations, and build for long-term sustainability

✓ You are ready to invest time and energy into your business growth

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost to participate?

No. Participation in Sisters in Solidarity Cohort 5 is completely free for selected participants thanks to funding from Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) through the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES), in partnership with the Canadian Women's Foundation as part of the Partnership for Feminist Entrepreneurship Project.

Is the program virtual?

Yes. All core program sessions, mentorship opportunities, Scale Circles, and office hours will be delivered virtually, making it accessible to Black women entrepreneurs across Canada. Participants can join from anywhere in the country while still building meaningful connections with a national community of founders.

What if I'm still preparing to scale?

That's okay.

You don't need to have a six-figure business or a large team to participate. We welcome Black women entrepreneurs who are actively scaling as well as those preparing for their next stage of growth.

If you've validated your business idea, generated revenue, built a customer base, or are beginning to think strategically about expansion, this program can help you develop the systems, revenue strategies, leadership skills, and capital readiness needed for sustainable growth.

The most important requirement is that you're committed to taking action and building a business that's ready for its next level.

All sectors are welcome.

What happens if I miss sessions?

Participants are expected to attend at least 80% of programming.

Can I apply if I'm outside major cities?

Absolutely. The program is national. Black women in remote communities are encouraged to apply.
